Bicycle Motocross is alive and well in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Remembering the days of when I was a kid and raced BMX, I thought what a great way to spend the afternoon. I found Aberdeen had a track and packed my photography equipment and headed up there. They have a great facility that is well organized and maintained. The track officials were very accommodating to me and I walked away with some great shots. Using my Canon 20D and 70-200mm F4 LSeries lens I was in the middle of the action.

Byron Dragway- Byron, Illinois

Late October isn’t the time of year to be thinking about drag racing. However, for many die-hard racers that is all to think about, any time of the year. During the last Fall I spent in my hometown of Byron, Illinois I ventured out to the track to visit a place I once frequented often. The only crowd was the racers themselves and they withstood a day of blustering winds, snow, and rain. During the breaks in the weather they forgot about the cold temperatures and heated up the track. I was there shooting with my trusty Canon 20D as usual. I was able to get up close tot he action and walked away with some pretty good shots since I don’t have a high powered zoom. I also experimented with HDR in my photo editing for the first time. I downloaded a trial version of software from Topaz and was quite impressed. Coupled with Photoshop I do have to say HDR and Topaz will be part of my photographic future.
